Boiler Scrappage Scheme
The Government’s recently announced Boiler Scrappage Scheme encourages householders to replace inefficient boilers with modern energy efficient systems. The £400 incentive provides an ideal opportunity for householders to move away from traditional fossil fuels towards more energy efficient, renewable energy solutions.
In practice, the foreseen upgrade of 125,000 G-Rated boilers will help to deliver around 140k ton carbon savings per year.
The government scheme offers eligible householders £400 towards the installation of a renewable heating technology, such as a Daikin Altherma heat pump, or an A-rated boiler.
Daikin Altherma Split LT is accredited under MCS *(Microgeneration Certification Scheme) , providing homeowners access to up to £900 grant under the Low Carbon Building Programme, as well as qualifying for the £400 incentive through the new Boiler Scrappage Scheme.
Who is eligible for the Boiler Scrappage Scheme?
. Your existing “main” boiler is a G-rated boiler; and
. You privately own or rent the property; and
. You live in England; and
. You are not eligible / and have not applied for funding under the Warm Front Scheme
How does it work?
. Check if your boiler is G-rated
. Arrange for a registered installer to visit and provide you with a quote
. Note that for the claim to be valid, when installing a Heat Pump both the product must be accredited under MCS and an MCS certified installer must carry out the installation
. With the quote in hand and all the details of your property and your existing boiler, complete the online form on the Energy Saving Trust website (www.energysavingtrust.org.uk) or call 0800 512 012
. A voucher will be sent after 10 days of the application, which are valid for 12 weeks. Only one voucher is available per household.
. This is a cash-back incentive. To redeem the voucher, you need to first to pay for the system and installation and then send the voucher with the invoice to the Energy Saving Trust.
. Householders are advised not to proceed with the installation before receiving the voucher, as this will invalidate the claim.
